What is vegetable oil refining process?

Vegetable oil refining is a process of removing impurities and unwanted components from crude edible oil to obtain high-quality, safe, and healthy edible oil for cooking and food production. The refining process involves several stages, including degumming, neutralization, bleaching, deodorization, and physical refining.

The refining process starts with pretreatment, where the crude oil is treated to remove impurities and free fatty acids. This is typically done using an oil press machine or other mechanical means. The oil is then heated and treated with chemicals to remove impurities through a process called degumming. Next, the oil is treated with caustic soda to neutralize any remaining free fatty acids.

After neutralization, the oil is bleached to remove pigments and other impurities. The oil is then heated and treated with steam in a deodorizing pot to remove any remaining impurities and unwanted flavors. This process is called deodorization and is typically done under vacuum to prevent oxidation.

tubular bowl centrifuge

A high-speed centrifuge with a tubular drum suspended from a flexible shaft. There are two types of soap removal and dewatering.

static mixer

A liquid-liquid or liquid-solid contact mixing device. It has no moving parts, and the mixer is filled with mixing elements in a certain way. When the fluid passes through a series of mixing elements it is divided into thinner and thinner layers, and finally a homogeneous mixture is achieved by molecular diffusion.

mixer

A device that mixes two liquids uniformly. There are slurry plate type, disc type, knife type, etc.

centrifugal mixer

A mixer that uses inertial centrifugal force to mix liquids and also has a conveying effect.

disc mixer

Also called “neutral mixer”. A mixer in which the oil and alkali enter the mixing chamber and are thoroughly mixed by the stirring of the disc.

blade mixer

It is also called “refining mixer” and “water washing mixer”. A mixer in which the mixing chamber is a vertical cylinder with a diamond-shaped blade on its central shaft.

bleaching tank

A closed vacuum vessel with stirring device for intermittent decolorization of fats and oils.

bleaching tower

A closed vacuum vessel for continuous decolorization of oils and fats.

bleaching earth dosing device

A device that can supply adsorbent continuously and quantitatively according to the process requirements.

deodorizing tank

A tank-like device for deodorizing oil and grease under high temperature and negative pressure.

assembled deodorizing tower

A deodorizing tower made up of deodorizing units of different types of structures. The equipment can consist of a packed tower structure at the top and a plate type deodorizing tower structure at the bottom.

Filling deodorizing tower

Also called soft tower. Deodorizing tower with filler as the contact interface of oil deodorization. The equipment is an upright tower, the interior consists of a number of filling layers, the grease is sprayed from the upper part to the entire filling section, and the steam is deodorized by contacting the grease from the bottom to the top of the filling layer.

Plate deodorizing tower

In the deodorizing tower shell by the isolation plate or tray separated into several layers of deodorization area of the deodorizing tower, generally used single-shell type and double-shell type are in the plate deodorizing tower range.

fatty acids catcher

Capture the deodorization of fatty acids and other substances in the exhaust gas equipment. In addition to water vapor and fatty acids, the gas discharged from the deodorizer also contains vitamin E, sterols and other unsaponifiable substances and splash oil. This equipment is capable of recovering these components and reducing the contamination of the discharge water in the water seal tank.

deaerator

Also called “deaerator”. This is a vessel for discharging gas from grease.

Continuous deodorization tower

The main body is an upright cylindrical tower with a number of overlapping studios inside the tower, and the grease comes down from the top to complete the continuous deodorization process.

semi-continuous deodorizer

The deodorization equipment consists of several unit working layers, where the flow of oil is continuous at the inlet and outlet, and the working section is intermittent.

conduction oil boiler

A boiler that heats heat-conducting oil to a certain temperature and then sends it to the heat receiver for heat transfer and then returns to the heating cycle.

canned motor pump

The pump and the motor are a whole structure, and the pump body and the rotor are in the same sealing device, which can effectively prevent the air from leaking in during the operation of the pump.

mechanical vacuum pump

This pump is used in the case where the vacuum level is not high in operation.

steam jet ejector vacuum pump

It consists of a pump body and a diffuser tube, and the working steam is injected into the diffuser tube at a very high speed to create a negative pressure inside the pump.

water jet ejector vacuum pump

The centrifugal pump injects water into the pump and shoots it from several nozzles to the center of the diffuser tube at high speed, causing negative pressure inside the pump. It is used when the vacuum level is not high and the pumping volume is not large.
